Qissa speaks to actress Sheila Munyiva as part of Qissa’s celebration of women in film in collaboration with F-Rated. Sheila has worked in film, theatre and television, as well as voicing an animated character for Disney's Kizazi Moto, a collection of short films from Africa.
And it's a Romeo and Juliet style type of film because the two girls come from fathers who are political rivals and here they are falling in love in a very conservative country.
With the wonderful Sheila Munyiva, we discuss LGBTQ+ rights in Kenya and why her film Rafiki was banned, the importance of self-promotion, the glamour of Cannes and more!
